"The first weekend learn about Chod; the second weekend practice Chod. Sarah Harding has been a student of Buddhism since 1972, practicing mainly under the great Tibetan meditation master Kalu Rinpoche. She has translated Machik's Complete Explanation: Clarifying the meaning of Chod, which is recommended reading for this program."

August 16-17, 2007, the Northwest Vipassana Center will be holding a 2-Day Vipassana Meditation for Children, 8-12 years old. They will learn "how to practice Anapana meditation (the observation of the natural breath to concentrate the mind), while observing the Five Precepts. The course and timetable have been specifically designed for children. Meditation sessions (30 minutes maximum for children) are interspersed with break periods, games, stories, and art activities. August 15 - Sept 26, 2008 (Fridays), 7-9 pm. Join Dr. Susan Lee as she leads and teaches classes in Sunlun (Burma) Vipassana Meditation. The Sunlun (Burma) Way of Buddhist Vipassana Meditation was originally practiced by the late Sunlun Gu-Kyaung Sayadaw, abbot of the Cave Monastery of Sunlun, Burma who attained the state of Arhat in 1920. In this 7-session course, you will learn the Sunlun Vipassana Meditation -- an effective practice of developing concentration of mind, leading to mindfulness of sensation, then to attainment of insight, or deep understanding of the nature of phenomena, which liberates. Each session is 2 hours: Introduction to meditation, 1 hour practice of Sunlun Vipassana Meditation technique, followed by 30-45 minutes questions and answers related to Vipassana meditation. Meditation cushions provided. Please wear approriate attire and refrain from wearing lotions with perfume which might distract. "Vipassana meditation is not an intellectual process: it is designed to be experienced only by vigorous practice with relentless effort, courage and determination." Dr. Susan Lee, PhD, first learned and practiced the Sunlun Vipassana Meditation in 1985 under the supervision and guidance of Sayadaw Ashin Vinaya, Abbot of the Kaba-Aye Sunlun Meditation Monastery in Yangon, Myanmar.
